Happy Christmas

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. ‘Tis the season to be jolly, and all that festive jazz. At Buzz Bingo we are excited about helping our online bingo community to enjoy a merry Christmas.

That’s why we’ve put together our very own guide to Christmas, to help you make the most of the festive season.

Christmas facts you might not know

  1. Some historians believe that Jesus Christ wasn’t born on December 25th – they insist that he was born in the spring!
  2. British households have Prince Albert of Germany to thank for the nation’s obsession with Christmas trees, after he bought one for his new wife, England’s Queen Victoria.
  3. Before turkeys became a Christmas food tradition, English households would tuck into goose, boar and even peacock, with Henry VIII the first English king to enjoy a turkey dinner.
  4. Contrary to popular belief, mince pies did contain meat originally according to Walker’s. In the 1500s, the Medieval tradition was that mince pies were snacked on daily from Christmas until Twelfth Night for 12 months of good fortune!

Our favourite Christmas traditions

  • Shopping for real Christmas trees
For many people, there is nothing quite like the look and smell of a real Christmas tree in your living room. It’s also an eco-friendlier alternative to artificial trees. The Carbon Trust claims these emit more than ten times the amount of CO2 than a properly disposed genuine tree.
  • Christmas crackers
Nothing says Christmas dinner more than cheesy Christmas cracker jokes. This tradition dates back to the Victorian era thanks to the innovation of confectioner Tom Smith.
  • The Queen’s speech
The Queen’s speech was first broadcast to a nationwide TV audience in 1957. 2019’s speech was viewed by 23.97 million people in the UK, the second most-watched show last year.
  • Boxing Day sales
Each year, Britain’s best-loved retailers open their doors for some of the biggest discounts and sales of the year. It’s the perfect way to spend those Christmas gift vouchers!

Our recommended Christmas slots that bring Santa to your screens

Our very own library of slot games can also help you to become less Scrooge and more Santa Claus.

Whether you’re heading home for Christmas or you’re already relaxing at home with A Miracle on 34th Street on in the background, this trio of festive slots have plenty of prizes capable of gift-wrapping your Christmas this year:

  • Santa Surprise
This slot is Christmas, with bells on. Playtech’s Santa Surprise slot comes with a jolly soundtrack, stockings and presents on the reels and the chance to unlock at least ten free spins with 3x multipliers attached to any win. • Book of Christmas
Set in the backdrop of a snow-kissed village, with candy canes lining the reels, the Book of Christmas slot is a visual masterpiece from Inspired Gaming. The cheery soundtrack is a cross between Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You and the classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, but it’s all about the ten free spins here. Not to mention the chance to gamble winnings from previous spins to double your money or win up to 20 free games!
  • Santa’s Free Spins
There’s much more to this Inspired Gaming slot than the title suggests. Santa himself can appear during any random spin, gifting you access to one of four bonus features. Land the game logo on all five reels on the same payline to bag the ice-cool 500x maximum jackpot!
