Meet The Manager – Louise from Torquay

Today’s General Manager is lush Louise from tip-top Torquay!

How long have you worked for us?

24 years

How long have you been a manager?

I’ve been a general manager since Christmas 2019 but I’ve held lots of different management positions in club and held a few positions in the south region mainly assisting with training, development & coaching.

What’s the best thing about your club?

The people, both customers & the team. No two days are the same and most of the time it’s fun.

What’s the most exciting thing that has happened while you’ve been a manager?

It was in a previous club but it was giving a lovely customer a cheque for over £100k, she was close to having to sell her house but this amount was going to change her life and help her in her retirement.

Why should people come to your club?

The friendly, warm welcome that you will receive, we might not have a state of the art venue but the team genuinely care about you having a fab time out.

What are your favourite hobbies?

Anything crafty, I love painting, I love traveling and I’m also trying to learn Spanish on duolingo, I think I have mastered the basics now and could confidently order myself a tomato salad & a glass of wine, oh and a bus ticket to Madrid.

Hamster sized hippo or hippo sized hamster?

Definitely a hamster sized hippo, I also wish they did hamster sized cows, I’ve always wanted a pet cow.

What’s your biggest fear?

Not telling you… those that know me know.

What’s your karaoke song?

I’m not sure I would ever do karaoke, I’m more a sing in the car kind of person. My son quite often tells me it’s not a duet when I try and join him in song, that’s how bad I am.

What’s your hidden talent?

I can make a fancy dress costume at very short notice.

If you could be on any TV show what would it be and why?

Taskmaster… I shouldn’t need to explain. It’s funny, your surrounded by funny people and you do daft things.

What would be your specialist subject on Mastermind?

What’s Mastermind lol….

Anything else you’d like to add?

My favourite food is Brussel sprouts so if you want to win me over just make me a nice big bowl of sprouts & mint sauce. I can eat them cold so don’t worry about keeping them warm when you come and visit me in club.

Thanks for answering our questions, Louise. We can’t wait until you can order a bowl of sprouts and mint sauce in Spanish!
